Abstract (cited)

In the ancient Irish tale of “The Voyage of Mael Dúin”, there is more than ahero’s adventurous seafare and search for his father’s murderer : it is primarily a spiritual and purificatory itinerary, a quest for self-knowledge. This spirituality seems to be completely different from the Christian inspiration normally found in this type of tale.
