Abstract (cited)

[EN] While various legends are known in Ireland, in Brittany and in Galicia about miraculous sea-voyages in stone boats, the geographical distribution of the four Galician legends concerning Saints who sailed in boats of stone shows an important maritime connection between the North and the South of the Galician coast. In no other parts of Galicia - nor in Portugal - do these types of legends appear, which reaffirms the speculation that these legends do not have their origins in Galicia but in Brittany or Ireland, and that they probably arrived in Galicia with the arrival of the monks who founded the monastery of Santa Maria of Britonia (Lugo), which no longer exists.
