Provenance and related aspects
8th or 9th century. In their catalogue published in 1886, Henry Stevenson and De Rossi dated the manuscript to the 8th century.(2)n. 2 Henry Stevenson • Giovanni Battista De Rossi, Codices Palatini Latini Bibliothecae Vaticanae descripti praeside I. B. Pitra (1886): 12.
This date was accepted by such scholars as E. A. Lowe, James Kenney, N. K. Ker, etc.,(3)n. 3 James F. Kenney, The sources for the early history of Ireland: an introduction and guide. Volume 1: ecclesiastical (1966): 637 (§ 465).
